FURRY SCURRY FUNDRAISING EVENT
May 3rd, 2014, was the Furry Scurry fundraising event, one of the largest of it’s kind to raise money for homeless animals here in Denver. It is sponsored by the Dumb Friends League and over 5,000 dogs attended! It was held just 5 minutes from where I am living at Washington Park, one of the biggest parks in the City. Thanks to generous donations from Cark Daikeler, CEO of Beachbody, my friends Laurie McNally, Tricia Small and many others, I was able to raise just under $1,400 to help this worthy cause. Despite my getting a dose of food poisoning the night before and my friend, Maureen, breaking her arm a few days prior who registered to do the walk with me, we rallied and attended bright and early that day. I am so glad we did, as it was an amazing event. There were tons of vendors and so many cute dogs, a lot of them dressed up for the contest that was being held. Zoom Room was there doing obstacles courses and they had a great DJ jamming out the tunes! It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day here in Denver, and I was so very happy to be part of this fundraiser! One funny thing I witnessed was a big dog peeing on his owner. Guess he was ready to go home. I won a bunch of cool prizes, including a seat cushion for Barney, a backpack, a travelling seat cushion, a down vest and a few t-shirts! I could barely carry everything back with me to the car! Thanks to everyone who supported this year’s furry scurry, and I look forward to next year!!
